The royal palace of Dar el-Makhzen, is a palace located in the commune of Méchouar Fez Jdid, in Fes, Morocco.
Covering an area of 80 hectares, the site incorporates the royal palace, a mosque, a medersa (founded by the merinides in 1320) and a place of weapon.
It opens onto the square of the Alawites by immense doors carved in copper made by a local craftsman around 1970. At dusk, the last rays of the sun blaze the metal, giving the work a golden jewel appearance .
